Our downable schedule and tip sheet for today at Jazz Fest.

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell resumes its second weekend today, and for me it's a slightly soft day. I'm not a Widespread Panic guy (note that their set has been shortened to a skimpy 2 1/2 hours from its original three hours, 15 minutes), and I have a history of being disappointed by reggae on the Congo Square Stage, so I'm not optimistic about Third World. More likely, my day will end with a wander from Alison Krauss to The Iguanas to the Blues Tent and Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials

Still, today's a strong day for Americana at Jazz Fest, and that will likely shape my day. I'm looking forward to Yvette Landry, Sturgill Simpson and Amanda Shires, and even though a little sacred steel goes a long way with me, The Word features Robert Randolph and Luther Dickinson, so I'll check in.

Here's today's downloadable schedule, color-coded to make life easier for you. The shows marked in green are my priorities for the day, and the ones marked in purple are artists from New Orleans and Louisiana who should be on your radar. As usual, I believe that a trip to Jazz Fest isn't complete without hearing at least one song in the Economy Hall Tent and one in the Gospel Tent.
