This week's Freshly Spilt Milk playlist includes new music from Autograf, Titus Andronicus, Deep Sea Diver, and Prince Rama, all of whom are coming to town.

1. “Mother of Nine” (AF the Naysayer remix) - Ms. Charm Taylor: Ms. Charm Taylor from the Honorable South really made an impression last year with her sassy lead vocal on Galactic’s “Right On.” Here she teams up with AF the Naysayer, who’ll perform at My Spilt Milk’s New Orleans Music Awards April 7. 

2. “In the Morning” - Pell x Stephen x Caleborate: Rapper Pell will play The House of Blues’ Parish Tuesday night in support of his recent album, Limbo. The album hasn't slowed his output though, as this recent collaboration illustrates.

3. “Hell in Paradise” (Moby remix) - Ono: Yoko Ono has a new album, Yes I’m a Witch Too, and the tracks from it are getting an all-star remix treatment. Here, Moby gives the track a dub-like treatment as snippets of her vocal are enunciated and almost immediately disappear into an echo chamber. Portugal. The Man, Death Cab for Cutie, and Miike Snow—who’ll play Buku March 12—also take production turns.

4. “Dok” - Kenton Slash Demon: The Swedish production duo return with a new 12-inch that will be out March 11. Echoed shouts energize and punctuate this late night drive of a groove.

5. “Lahjkit Lahjkit” - Richard Rossa: This “psych-disco” track sounds a lot of dance music in the early ‘80s made by people with rock not R&B backgrounds.

6. “Future Soup” ft. Patrick Baker - Autograf: Autograf will play a VIP-only set at Buku March 12. This is the title track from their upcoming album, which will be released March 11.

7. “Hard Grind (NOLA)” ft. Melaphyre - Suave: New Orleans’ singer Suave lives in Cincinnati now but remains haunted by New Orleans. Here he talks about how tough the game is for musicians today.

8. “Prompto” ft. R3LL & DMP - Big Dope P: OWSLA recently released this track by the French producer that blends bass and hip-hop in a purely club-friendly way.

9. “International” - Young Lyxx &  Dandee: This track truly is international. San Diego Young Lyxx collaborated with Bangkok rapper Dandee while on a tour in Asia.

10. “Your Life in the End” - Prince Rama: The two-woman duo known as Prince Rama will play Siberia March 13. Their new sports-themed album, Xtreme Now will be out March 4, and it includes this sunny, anthemic track.

11. “Was Dog a Doughnut” - Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band: Technically, this track is outside of our usual three month cut-off, but the March 18 release of 55 is the American debut of this funky German steel band with an eccentric taste for covers. Some seem natural like Dennis Coffey’s “Scorpio,” but here they give a Cat Stevens song the instrumental steel band treatment.

12. “Mr. E. Mann (remix) - Titus Andronicus: Titus Andronicus will play Gasa Gasa March 7 with The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn opening. This remix from the song from last year’s The Most Lamentable Tragedy does little more obvious than strip of the guitar, leaving behind the piano, strings, and Patrick Stickles singing as if the electric guitar is still there.

13. “Everybody Wants to Love You” - Japanese Breakfast: From Philadelphia not Japan, a showcase for the pop sense of Michelle Zauner. Here, she sets an irresistible melody in a swirl of dreamy keyboards with a wiry guitar trying to insistently cut through.

14. “Stuck in our Dreams” - Self Portraits: This French band never loses its cool or overcommits. Because of that, it reminds me a little of late New Order minus Peter Hook’s driving bass.

15. “Sitting Still” - Sofia Härdig: Swedish multi-instrumentalist Sofia Härdig recalls early ‘80s post-punk with this slightly frenetic, edgy rocker, but you can hear a Sonic Youth-influenced guitar haze deepening the sound. Härdig has worked with Kim Gordon and is upfront about the debt the song owes to SY, as well as The Pixies and Le Tigre. The album Sitting Still is due out February 26. 

16. “Kiss it Better (Nobbella Mixx) - Sissy Nobby: Bounce rapper Sissy Nobby has a new album, The Hate is Real!!, but that’s not enough. Nobby has also released a remix of Rihanna’s “Kiss it Better.” This is the closest New Orleans will get to RiRi for a while since the start of her tour has been delayed until March. The first dates on the tour will be moved to May--New Orleans on the 15th.

17. “Bebop Radiohaus” - Operator: This Brooklyn-based electronic band has Kraftwerk’s electronic minimalism at its core. When the guitar comes in, it takes the sonic lead but everything else pulses on as if the song’s not going anywhere or it’s going on forever.

18. “The Enemy” ft. Felix da Housecat - Matador: Irish techno producer locks into a mechanical groove complete with a bouncing keyboard melody and a textured vocal from Felix da Housecat that in part mirrors a rumbling bass.

19. “Boom” (Arona Mane Rendition) - Major Lazer: Australian DJ Arona Mane gave “Boom” a more tactile quality without messing with its electric dancehall nature.

20. “Easy Lover” - Infuze x Father Dude: A cover of the Phil Collins and Philip Bailey duet is almost too much to add to a playlist, but Brooklyn’s Father Dude is enough of a singer to credibly pick up their vocal parts, and Infuze’s future bass production shears off layers of cheese.

21. “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone” (Silicon Rework) - Unknown Mortal Orchestra: When Unknown Mortal Orchestra played The Republic earlier I know, one industry friend geeked out so seriously that he bought the band’s catalogue off the merch table. Silicon’s remix of the song plays up its funkiness. 

22. “Brave” ft. Vindata & Mothica - Gladiator: L.A. DJs Daniel Goodman and Ian Johnson are Gladiator. “Brave” comes from their Fool’s Gold EP, Transit. where they offer dance pop that offers a lot more musical invention than easy drama.

23. “Secrets” - Deep Sea Diver: Deep Sea Diver and Radiation will play Gasa Gasa February 26. The Seattle-based indie rock band is a project for Jessica Dobson, who has put in time as part of The Shins.

24. “The Cause” - Laura Gibson: Laura Gibson’s Empire Builder album (due out April 1) is a riches to rags story that documents how things fell apart for her after she took a train from Portland to NYC. Her musical and personal resilience is clear on this track.

25. “If I Should Fall from Grace with God” - Deer Tick: Deer Tick will be in town to play Hogs for the Cause April 2. Here they cover The Pogues’ classic for Bloodshot Records’ Six Pack to Go—a series of drinking-themed 7-inch singles by Banditos, Dale Watson, Kelly Hogan and Nora O’Connor, and Elizabeth Cook, who covers The Dead Kennedys’ “Too Drunk to Fuck.”
